C-Cell cell-culture-grade protein hydrolysates

Ultrafiltered, low-endotoxin plant and yeast protein hydrolysates made by Organotechnie, France, for serum-free and low-serum culture of CHO, HEK293, Vero, mesenchymal stromal and insect cells. STBIO MEDIA is the distributor in Taiwan, supplying samples, specifications and batch COAs.

Fetal bovine serum is expensive, variable between batches and carries animal-origin risk, so vaccine, monoclonal antibody, cell therapy and cultivated meat processes all look for ways to use less of it. Cell-culture-grade protein hydrolysates are the most common replacement supplement: plant or yeast protein is cut into peptides and amino acids, ultrafiltered to remove large molecules and controlled for endotoxin, so it can supply part of the nutrition and growth factors serum used to provide.

C-Cell is the range Organotechnie designed for cell culture, split by raw material into soy, pea, guar, broad bean, rice, wheat and yeast grades, each with validation data on CHO, HEK293 or Vero. STBIO MEDIA has distributed the range since 2023, holds stock in Taiwan and provides free samples.

Cell lines and applications

Frequently asked questions

01What is C-Cell?

C-Cell is the cell-culture-grade protein hydrolysate range from Organotechnie S.A.S., France: plant or yeast proteins enzymatically hydrolysed and ultrafiltered, with low endotoxin, used to supply peptides and growth factors in serum-free or low-serum media. STBIO MEDIA is the distributor in Taiwan.

02How does C-Cell differ from an ordinary peptone?

Three things: ultrafiltration (removing large molecules and potential viral or endotoxin load), an endotoxin specification, and performance testing on cell lines. Ordinary fermentation peptones lack these and often inhibit growth or introduce endotoxin when added to cell culture media.

03What dose should I start with?

It varies widely with the cell type and culture mode. In published studies, adherent Vero cells used 0.5 g per litre (0.05%) while suspension HEK293 used 0.5% (5 g per litre), a tenfold difference. Trial three levels between 0.25 and 5 g per litre, starting low for adherent cells and high for suspension cells, then read cell density and product.

04Can it fully replace serum?

It depends on the cell line. Published data show serum can be cut from 10% to 5% in Vero and partially replaced in CHO; fully serum-free culture usually needs an optimised basal medium and adaptation. We supply samples so you can verify in your own system.

05What documentation is available?

Each batch comes with a COA (including endotoxin), a TDS and an SDS; the manufacturer can provide animal-origin, non-GMO and process statements. Contact us for documents required for regulatory filings.

06Is it animal-origin-free?

Plant- and yeast-derived C-Cell grades contain no animal-derived raw material; the origin of enzymes and processing aids is stated in the manufacturer's declaration, available with the sample.

07Minimum order and lead time?

Samples are free; order sizes follow the pack formats. Common grades are stocked in Taiwan and the rest ship from France. Tell us the cell line, application and volume via the quotation form.
