Overview
Glucose OF Medium (Hugh-Leifson) distinguishes oxidative from fermentative glucose metabolism: low peptone, high glucose and bromothymol blue, inoculated in two tubes with one sealed under mineral oil. Both tubes yellow means fermentative (Enterobacteriaceae), only the open tube yellow means oxidative (Pseudomonas and others), no change means glucose is not used. The Taiwan FDA Enterobacteriaceae method lists it as the confirmation test for suspect VRBG colonies, read together with the oxidase test. Food-grade raw materials, Halal certified.
