THE SITUATION AND THE PAIN POINTS
Schizochytrium is the main production strain for DHA and microbial oils, and increasingly a feedstock for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and alternative lipids. Lipid accumulation in heterotrophic fermentation is highly sensitive to the nitrogen source, the C:N ratio, and the mineral profile; general-purpose media rarely deliver both biomass and lipid content.
OUR APPROACH
AlgaPro is STBIO's range developed for Schizochytrium and heterotrophic microalgae, split by fermentation stage into a nitrogen core (N-Core), a complete formulation (M-Complete), and a lipid-phase fed-batch booster (L-Boost): N-Core and M-Complete build biomass in the growth phase, and L-Boost is fed after nitrogen limitation is triggered to raise fatty acid synthesis efficiency and lipid yield. They can be used alone or combined to suit each process. The formulations are proprietary; trials and technical collaboration are welcome.
