Overview
Plate Count Broth H is the liquid form of the plate count medium, made of casein peptone, yeast extract and glucose with no selective agents, so general bacteria grow freely. It is widely used for beverage and food pipeline cleaning verification: after cleaning, the line is filled with the broth, held, then sampled and incubated to verify the whole section directly. It also serves for general enrichment and non-fastidious cultures. Halal-certified and made from food-grade raw materials, with 5 kg and 25 kg packs for routine verification.
Choosing a general-purpose or enumeration medium
Plate Count Agar is used for total viable counts in food, water, and environmental samples. Nutrient Broth and Tryptic Soy media are the general-purpose choices for non-fastidious bacteria, with the latter richer and also used for sterility testing and environmental monitoring. Brain Heart Infusion is the richest of the three and suits fastidious organisms such as streptococci. Use the agar form for enumeration and the broth for propagation.
